"Why is torture commonly used?"

To preserve my pearls of wisdom posted on the LTE comments today (tongue in cheek)....

Bubba wrote on 01/13/2010 12:58:16 PM ... it does seem odd that if torture doesn't work, why is it so commonly used? ...

Because it appeals to a certain base mindset of people in a position to do the torturing. It doesn't matter whether or not any good information is obtained or whether the people being tortured even would have been in a position to have any kind of information in the first place, it's the act of torture that is satisfying to that kind of people.

  2. Thank you, Larry.

I'm tired of fools not separating the act from the actor.
