Is a Page 3 girl next

In the Olympia's effort to become little more than a scandal rag it ran to salacious articles today. 1st it reported allegations of sexual impropriety by a local hair dresser. The two impeachable sources were an ex-boyfriend and an Idaho convict.

The 2nd need to know tale of sexual hi jinks was allegations of two consenting teenagers getting frisky in a school bus.

And these stories have anything to do with news other than for there shock value how?

It's editorial choices like this that make me think we all might be better off without the Daily Zero.

  1. "... better off without the Daily Zero."

Better believe it! I sub to the TNT, and a large part of it is repeated in the Zero. Why would a newspaper publishing company think that it's a smart business practice to publish the same pieces in two newspapers that are approximately 30-35 miles apart? (Overall, I believe that the Trib is a much, much better newspaper than the Olympian!) Shouldn't McClatchy do something to distinguish one paper from the other in the hopes of enhancing the subscription numbers of both papers??? Provide some incentive for people to read both instead of defaulting to only one of the two papers.

  2. The difference between the Trib and the Zip is the Trib still has a staff.

  3. Not as big a staff as they had a couple of years ago, though.

In order to cover their beats, the TNT field reporters have had to resort to a greater extent than formerly to getting tips and information from "informants" instead of going out and doing their own digging for news. A few months ago either Karen Peterson or Peter Callaghan (don't remember which) explained that was what they were having to do. (It almost sounded as if they were proud that that was what was being done!)
