"The FEMA Redemption Tour"

Lost among news items of international interest in the past few days has been the almost unprecedented destruction experienced in many of our Southern states by last week's tornadoes. And out of that devastation has come near universal gratitude for the prompt, efficient, and compassionate work of FEMA workers, who were on the ground almost immediately in the tornadoes' aftermath.

These unsung federal workers have provided food, clothing, shelter, and access to medical treatment for thousands of victims of these tornadoes. They have worked quietly and tirelessly to help those affected.

Compare this to the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, and you can see the difference in the approaches taken by two administrations. Compare the quiet competence shown by the Obama Administration to the brash arrogance of the FEMA of his predecessor, and you can understand why some on the ground in places like Alabama and Tennessee are calling this "The FEMA Redemption Tour."

And all without requesting any payment such as the Red Cross is usually accused of requesting.
