Gov. Cuomo Laughs Off Death-Ray Gun Threat By 'Extreme Right Wing Nutsies'

Gov. Cuomo laughed off my report today that he was a potential target of a self-proclaimed Ku Klux Klansman's plot to use a mobile death-ray machine to kill Muslims and others.

"These extreme right wing nutsies think of everything," Cuomo said during an appearance on public radio's "The Capitol Pressroom."

Cuomo said his brother, CNN reporter Chris Cuomo, razzed him about the story in an email this morning.

"Nazi death ray? Stay off my boat," Cuomo quoted his brother as writing.

He then noted he's in Albany today, and jokingly told radio host Susan Arbetter to keep her distance: "Stay away from me," Cuomo said. "You may get hit as collateral by the death ray."

A federal criminal complaint filed this week charged that Glen Crawford was planning to use a radiation-emitting device to attack a Muslim organization, a political party and “a political figure.”

Sources with knowledge of the situation told the Daily News Thursday that the unnamed political figure was Cuomo.

It’s unclear why he might have been a target.
