The new lie about the old debt

Why do the Republicans (Haley Barber on TV this morning) continue to lie about the debt and President Obama's role?
Barbor stipulated that Obama was "responsible for running the debt up $14 trillion"
Now the truth:
On January 20, 2009 the debt was $10,626,877,048,913.
As of yesterday, the debt was $14,309,159,087,877
That makes net increase in the debt during Obama's Administration -
$3,682,282,048,964
That makes Barbor's lie a 397% exaggeration
Sort of reminiscent of John Kyl's statement about Planned Parenthood, isn't it?
Remember that Obama has no control over the interest on the previous debt, so you can subtract that right off the top of the current debt.
Rule #1 of the Republican Party - it doesn't have to be the truth, you just have to say it enough
