It starts to feel odd being so happy over the death of someone I don't know personally.
Is it just me?

If the shoe fits, wear it: "... in the modern world the stupid are cocksure while the intelligent are full of doubt." -- Bertrand Russell
"There's no firewall for stupidity." -- Mike Hamilton
"I won't insult your intelligence by suggesting that you really believe what you just said." -- William F. Buckley, Jr.

Not odd at all.... it's easier in this case.
No, you're not the only one, Lost. My boss is a pretty devout Christian, and when she heard the news, she told me she pumped her fists in the air and shouted "YES!". Then she started feeling guilty about it and called another Christian friend of hers who told her it was O.K.
The man was asking to be killed, and he was killed. I don't think feeling "happy" about a death is appropriate, at least not for me, but I don't feel sorry for what happened, either.
It's a relief that none of our people were killed along w/ him, and that mission is truly accomplished.
I am conflicted on this. My daughter, who is away at school, called because she was upset at so many people celebrating someone's death. I told her that I thought it was unseemly, but understandable, and that I appreciated her sense of right and wrong (which she gets from her mother).
On the other hand, a lot of people complaining about the celebration come across as the types who would be mad at the Munchkins for celebrating the death of the Wicked Witch of the West
I'm glad he's dead. It's just that I'm used to being rather indifferent to strangers deaths. If I'm a liberal by some standards then I must not be one of the bleeding heart types.
I'm glad he's dead, but I'm not going to hit the streets with my flag and start chanting "USA USA"
As to the humor adorning out blog, it's to be expected.
An interesting aside....Eric Olson, the Admiral in charge of the Special Opps that headed this is an old schoolmate of mine. We both attended Jason Lee Jr. High and ran against each other for President. I happened to win, but he ran a great campaign. I would have never though him to end up a special opps guy. He graduated from Stadium High in 1969.
