Comments posted to an article in today's on-line Olympian, Video fallout shows there’s no mud too dirty to sling, must have perfectly illustrated the mud slinging because the existing comments (70 some?) have been removed, and posting ability has been closed. It's really too bad that people can't control themselves.
I'll lay odds that the right wingers were the worst offenders.

Apparently just the mention of your name is enough for it to be your fault?
It's been going on like this for more than a week. There's just something about a 30,000-year-old warrior that brings out the craziness in people.
I haven't been a regular commenter on The Olympian for about 3 years and they still are obsessed with me.
I do note that one of the stories in question was archived and the comments dumped. It seems George knows the liability issues that I brought up.
Maybe, if they just moderated, they wouldn't have to take such action to avoid legal remedy.
Now they're accusing me of collaborating with the moderator. I'm starting to feel like Alice Through The Looking Glass.
