UPDATE: Governor Brownback's office responded saying the [sic] did not have a comment in regard to the viral Facebook post.
Topeka waitress Chloe Hough marked through the space for tips on the governor's receipt at her restaurant this weekend. She replaced it with a line that said "tip the schools," instead.
Hough says despite crossing out the tip line, the governor still left her a ten percent tip.

A photo posted on social media regarding a note on a receipt given to Kansas Governor Sam Brownback has gone viral.
The photo was posted by former waitress Chloe Hough. It shows a credit card receipt from Boss Hawg’s Barbeque in Topeka with Gov. Sam Brownback’s name. The line where the amount to tip was crossed out and next to it a note saying “Tip the schools.”
"I think education is the foundation for a better country and more progressive society," Hough said.
In March, Governor Sam Brownback signed a block grant funding bill that changed the way Kansas pays for public education. The Governor says the bill puts more money in the schools' pockets, but most districts disagree.
Hough said she has a sister with special needs who lost several teachers due to the budget cuts. She said she knew she had to say something when Governor Brownback walked into the restaurant on her last day on the job.
"I just printed out his receipt and I thought, 'I am going to cross out my tip line.' And then I said, 'I should write tip the schools,'" Hough said.
Hough posted the photo of the receipt on Facebook, where it went viral. Hough said the Governor did end up tipping her for the service.
We reached out to the Governor's office about Hough's statement, and have not heard back.
