Politics is an opportunity for success without earning it-- what a shameful statement. It's time for political parties to go

Why We Should Ban Political Parties
By James Turnage, October 14, 2013

Because we are a republic, we elect officials to work for us.  If that is true, then we would not be experiencing a partial government shutdown.  There are no ideologies or issues of importance causing this misery for the American public.  The issue is political posturing.  That is why we should ban political parties.

We need a true leader to initiate a petition to eliminate labels attached to our representatives in Washington.  Adding an adjective to senators and congressmen such a “Democrat,” “Republican.” or “Tea Party,” eliminates the title they should all wear, “United States” senator, etc.

As I predicted years ago, politics, specifically the “Tea” Party, has destroyed our country, and has proven that there is no interest in caring for the needs of average Americans; their sole purpose is individual advancement and financial success.

Great men from our past have predicted our present state of affairs.  Abraham Lincoln said:  “America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.”

Thomas Jefferson:  “Experience hath shown, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny.”

Teddy Roosevelt:  “The things that will destroy America are prosperity-at-any-price, peace-at-any-price, safety-first instead of duty-first, the love of soft living, and the get-rich-quick theory of life.”

History has been taught in schools for generations.  It was not information given to us so that we might revere those in our past, but to learn from the successes and failures of our predecessors.  That attempt, to provide us with the ability to erase mistakes in the future has failed.  Our government has degenerated into a self-serving group of lazy men and women.

Politics is an easy way to make money, period.  It is not a noble profession, or even a profession of service to the American people.  It is an opportunity for success without earning it.

As long as we have political parties, the people of the United States will never have representation in Washington.

Our dire situation on this Monday, October 14, 2013, is because of one party or the other fearing a loss of their position of power.  And they openly admit it.

If the Tea Party did not exist, we would not be in this situation.  Individuals with no experience, and under-average IQ’s are controlling the country’s future.  Jim DeMint, Sarah Palin, Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Michelle Bachmann, and Paul Ryan, to name a few of the 80, are cancelling out the experience and understanding of the workings of our government.  Those of you who voted for them should be embarrassed, they embarrass me.

When small groups of men and women dictate the majority, there must be revolution.  It exists in Egypt at this moment.  And don’t believe the falsehoods of our government or that of any other, government tyranny is the reason for the uprising.

Political parties in the United States have become so powerful that they are able to completely ignore the promises made to their constituents once they are elected.  It’s time for them to go.
