Opinion Line Extra (Jan. 2)
By The Wichita Eagle, January 2, 2015
Since it seems the Kansas Legislature’s only concern and focus this year is on taking away a woman’s constitutional right to an abortion and moral right to her own body, it should be able to meet for only one week and save the taxpayers a lot of money.
If The Eagle calls those who are against the taking of life “abortion foes,” what does it call those who are for the taking of life? “Friends”?
OK, I get it. If the judges agree with the governor and Legislature, they are doing a good job. But if they disagree, they are “liberal activists” and need to be replaced. The constitution and other laws don’t really matter; it’s just what the conservatives want that matters.
The main reason that Gov. Sam Brownback and others are raising the stakes on politically affiliated judges is because they fear the wrath about to come down from the evil Clinton woman. Whaahaahaa.
I am so grateful for all of the Kochs’ money. Without it, I would not know what to think or how to vote.
Sure is funny that one of the Koch brothers is trying to paint himself as a liberal.
Bill Clinton’s global free trade agreements turned out to be the fastest method of giving away our technology edge to other countries, resulting in our current poor economy.
President Bush’s tactics caused the gas prices to go up. I guess people cannot remember that far back. I want to say “thank you” to President Obama for all he got done to help us, like Obamacare. A lot of people now have insurance.
A recent poll showed a sudden rise in the IQ of people that have Dish Network. Upon further investigation it was found that Dish and Fox News were in a contract dispute, and Dish had quit airing Fox News. Some people are wondering if there is a connection.
Mexican cartels have moved to Colorado. They can smuggle marijuana to other states without having to pass through a federal checkpoint. Coming soon: mass murders of their competition.
How generous – people who can afford to eat at Olive Garden paying for other Olive Garden diners’ meals. Sounds like a Republican concept of “charity” – the rich giving to the rich.
I agree about needing more traffic enforcement. On Dec. 26 I saw a driver run a red light because he was tired of waiting for it to change and several turn right on red without stopping. On a typical drive home I probably see five violations and zero officers.
I realize that having a handicap card hanging on the car rearview mirror is a status symbol, but it should only be hanging when the car is parked and not in motion.
