"... Cantor is calling for the party to ... 'lay out a positive, honest governing platform to take the country forward.'"

COMMENTS:
*  For being a party with a strong stance on the government staying out of the lives of Americans, they sure forget about this when it comes to women's rights, the LGBT, abortion funding , religion in school, religious tolerance only for Christians & everything thing else that are fundamental or religious based issues, which shouldn't even be in the political arena anyway. Why do you get to pick & choose what the government can stick it's nose into?
*  When have the Democrats even showed any real sign of trying to take away your guns? We brought to the negotiation table banning assault rifles & large magazines, since neither can be used to hunt for food & lesser dangerous guns can be used for protection. Obviously the overwhelming fear of gun owners worrying their entire gun collections would be taken away from them, gave Democrats the idea to drop this issue & request the minimal. Background checks for every gun owner. Mandatory. Even at event shows.  I believe the reason people are saying the Republican party are losing popularity is because it shows in the polls. Democrats now have more supporters. The Republican party is becoming way too intrusive into personal lives. People are agreeing more now that the LGBT deserves the same rights as everyone else in America. More Americans are becoming less religious. Atheism is growing. Most views by Republicans are outdated. They want to remain in the past & not realistically look at how America is changing. They claim to know what Americans want, when the polls show the complete opposite. Their utter refusal to attempt talks with the other side is very upsetting. Their insults toward others, in their own party & the other party are mean, and quite often lies or huge exaggerations. They are looked upon by many as racist. Many things.
*  When facts get in the way... ignore them.
*  The reason for so much hate is because of 24/7 far right Hate Radio and Republican propaganda news channel known as Fox News. If one were to look before the arrival of Fox News and so many far right talk radio shows, this country was pretty united. Now it's like a football game, your team against mine.
*  Obama is so much smarter than the Teatards it drives them insane that can't win when playing against him.
*  It's clueless racists like you who have ruined the once great GOP. You have just listed every right wing lie and untruth that has been used to fleece the rubes, create divisions, and hurt all of us. Well done, praise God, you are 100% wrong, enjoy that bubble

Cantor: Boehner critics weren't honest
By Ben Kamisar, September 26, 2015

Former House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) is blasting the GOP's conservative wing as unrealistic, a day after Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) announced he would resign from Congress.

“The tragedy here is that these voices have not been honest with our fellow conservatives. They have not been honest about what can be accomplished when your party controls Congress, but not the White House,” Cantor writes in a New York Times piece published Saturday.

Cantor (R-Va.), who served as majority leader until his stunning defeat in a primary election last year, says conservatives blamed GOP leaders for failing to “enact into law a conservative vision for government, without compromise," instead of President Obama.

“As a result we missed chances to achieve important policies for the good of the country.”

Boehner stunned Washington on Friday by announcing that he’ll resign from Congress in October. But for his 2014 primary loss, Cantor likely would have been a top contender to succeed Boehner for the speakership.

Furious Boehner allies blame the caucus’ more conservative members for essentially forcing him out after years of putting their agenda above the party’s more realistic goals.

Cantor says he agrees with conservative Republicans that the party should fight, but argues they should “fight smartly.”

“I have never heard of a football team that won by throwing only Hail Mary passes, yet that is what is being demanded of Republican leaders today. Victory on the field is more often a result of three yards and a cloud of dust,” he writes.

“In politics this means incremental progress, winning hearts and minds before winning the vote — the kind of governance Ronald Reagan perfected.”

Instead of infighting over strategy, Cantor is calling for the party to come together ahead of the 2016 presidential race and “lay out a positive, honest governing platform to take the country forward.”

“This is what my friend John Boehner fought for, and this is what we must continue to fight for to honor his dedication to Congress and the American people,” he says.
