God Forgives, Baptists Don't: Pastor Axed for Seeing Rick Ross Concert
Let he who is without swag throw the first stone
By Joe Lynch, August 9, 2013

Hell hath no fury like a Baptist scorned: Earlier this week, a North Carolina pastor was kicked out of the Mt. Salem Baptist Church for attending a Rick Ross concert.

Rodney Wills, a 26-year-old preacher who had spent nearly four years at the church, was spotted at Ross' recent North Carolina to the chagrin of his congregation. So at an emergency Saturday night meeting, 14 deacons voted 11 to 3 to fire the Bawse-loving Man of the Cloth.

"We cannot have our leader supporting people of this world who are tearing down the kingdom of God," Deacon Miles Langley explained to AmericaPreachers.com. Awkwardly enough, Langley is Wills' uncle, so they can look forward to an excruciating Christmas (Suggestion to Wills: Buy your uncle a copy of Ross' God Forgives, I Don't).

Whether you think this is a bizarre overreaction or a legitimate response to a preacher checking out the show of a man who rapped about drugging and raping a woman, it's worth noting this wasn't Wills' first "offense." The pastor was spotted at a Lil Wayne concert earlier this year and subsequently warned by the deacons who would eventually axe him.

Moral of the story: Jesus may have hung out with prostitutes and thieves in his spare time, but this is 2013. If you're a preacher, you'd better be checking out Coldplay in concert or just staying home and watching Touched By An Angel reruns.
