"Raddatz didn't back down from Trump, stopping the Republican presidential candidate when he went over his time and pressing him on questions he ignored ..." Congrats, Martha!

Martha Raddatz is either the hero or villain of the 2nd presidential debate
By Keith Wagstaff, October 9, 2016

During Sunday night's extremely contentious debate, reining in the candidates — especially Donald Trump, who literally said he would put Hillary Clinton in jail — seemed like an impossible task.

That job went to CNN's Anderson Cooper and Martha Raddatz from ABC News, who actually did a pretty good job of giving each candidate equal talking time.

Raddatz didn't back down from Trump, stopping the Republican presidential candidate when he went over his time and pressing him on questions he ignored, especially those related to his strategy in Syria. (In one of her most memorable moments of the debate, she interrupted him and said sternly about his plan to fight ISIS, "Tell me what your strategy is.")

Unlike poor Lester Holt from the first debate, nobody was accusing her of disappearing. To many people watching at home, this made her something of a hero ...

... or a villain, if you happened to be a conservative who thought she was being unfair to Trump.

Either way, more people know who Martha Raddatz is now. We'll have to see if Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace will be as tough during the third and final presidential debate on Oct. 19 in Las Vegas.
