"a nice house"? What does that have to do with doing the right thing?

GOP’s Terry Lee: ‘Dang straight’ I’ll collect my paycheck during shutdown
By Travis Gettys, October 4, 2013

Although some of his congressional colleagues have said they’ll donate or forgo their paychecks during the government shutdown, a Nebraska Republican told his local paper that he’d continue to accept his salary.

“Dang straight,” said Rep. Lee Terry (R-NE), adding that the question was irrelevant because the shutdown would soon be resolved.

Terry, who voted for the House budget resolution to delay the Affordable Care Act and set up the shutdown, told the Omaha World-Herald that lawmakers who would give up their pay while other government workers were furloughed were grandstanding.

“Whatever gets them good press. That’s all that it’s going to be,” he told the newspaper. “God bless them. But you know what? I’ve got a nice house and a kid in college, and I’ll tell you we cannot handle it. Giving our paycheck away when you still worked and earned it? That’s just not going to fly.”
