Some of Congress’ dimmest bulbs..... hmmmm, does this include Dave Reichert?

The Shutdown squad: Congress’ dumbest members
By Joel Connelly, October 16, 2013

As he presides over a splintered, infighting Republican caucus that could be called “Mogadishu on the Potomac,” House Speaker John Boehner ought to recall a rare, wise observation he made a couple years back:

“We’ve got some of the smartest people in the country who serve here, and some of the dumbest.”

As the crisis in Washington, D.C., reaches its final agonies, the government shutdown and default brinksmanship are shining light on some of Congress’ dimmest bulbs[snipped; for the list, see http://blog.seattlepi.com/seattlepolitics/2013/10/16/the-shutdown-squad-congress-dumbest-members/#16947-1]

Is the country laughing?

No. Its popularity ratings in the tank, the Republican Party in Congress may have suffered lasting damage for forcing the shutdown and carrying America country to the brink of default.

It begs another question:  Did supposedly moderate members of the House Republican Caucus, e.g. Rep. Dave Reichert, R-Wash., show an equal lack of intelligence?  They did not speak up but let caucus crazies run wild.  Boehner’s negotiating position was ruined and his reputation is in tatters.  The party was given an extrem[e], Fox News-style public face.

Silence gives consent. By his lethargy, Reichert may have just given himself a lively 2014 reelection campaign, even in a supposedly safe district.
