"A succession of Congress’ loudest 'family values' lawmakers have become embroiled in sex scandals." Geez, Republicans, keep it in your pants!

Cuckolded hubby: Hot lips Congressman Vance McAllister ‘most non-religious man I know’
By Joel Connelly, April 8, 2014

The husband of a woman videotaped in a passionate 30-second kiss with “family values” Republican Rep. Vance McAllister of Louisiana is speaking his mind and heading for the divorce court.

He’s not who people think he is: If people really knew him, he wouldn’t be elected. This religious family man deal — this is completely false. He’s not like that. He’s the most non-religious man I know,” longtime friend Heath Peacock told “Inside Edition.”

McAllister was videotaped on Dec. 23 in a prolonged, passionate embrace with aide Melissa Peacock. A month earleer, running as a Christian and “family man,” he was elected to Congress. Heath Peacock was a generous campaign contributor.

Peacock was howling to reporters on Tuesday, and not heeding McAllister’s statement requesting forgiveness from his constituents.

“I’m just freaking devastated by the whole deal, man,” Peacock told CNN. ”I loved my wife so much. I cannot believe this. I cannot freaking believe it.”

“He has wrecked my life: We are headed for divorce,” he added. The Peacocks have a 6-year-old son.

McAllister tried to convey a Mr. Smith-goes-to-Washington image on arriving in the nation’s capital. He talking about never having been there. He waxed eloquent about having a big Sunday breakfast, before church, with his wife and five little McAllisters.

When the video first ran in The Ouachita Citizen, a local newspaper, McAllister issued a statement, saying in part:

“There’s no doubt I’ve fallen short and I’m asking for forgiveness from my God, my wife, my kids, my staff and my constituents who elected me to serve.”

Heath Peacock isn’t buying it. ”He can apologize all he wants, until he’s blue in the face: It doesn’t change a thing,” he said.

The scandal is reminiscent of the recent Ensign affair, in which Sen. John Ensign, R-Nevada, was found to be sleeping with the wife of his top aide and close friend. After it was revealed that Ensign’s wealth parents arranged payments to the cuckolded husband, he quit Congress.

A succession of Congress’ loudest “family values” lawmakers have become embroiled in sex scandals.

Rep. Robert Bauman, R-Maryland, original sponsor of Congress’ “Family Protection Act,” saw his House career end in scandal, but later toured the country speaking as a gay conservative.

Rep. Arland Stangeland, R-Minnesota, saw his career after it was revealed he had made 341 phonecalls to and from the home of a female lobbyist. “I can say that each and every phonecall was made for business reasons,” said Stangeland, a married father of seven.

Sen. David Vitter, R-Louisiana, apologized profusely to his wife and constituents — and to God — after his name popped up in the address book of the “D.C. Madam.”  Vitter won reelection and is now favored to be the next governor of the Pelican State.

Louisiana is now abuzz over who leaked the McAllister video.
