Fox News host freaks out, tells GOP to 'grow a spine' and oppose gay marriage
By Robert Sobel, October 12, 2014

Despite the economic problems affecting the country and unrest around the world, social issues still have a large impact on American politics. With the country shifting in support for same-sex marriage, one Fox News host is not happy about it.

With the majority of states now recognizing same-sex marriage, the overall feel in the country is that it's only a matter of time before all 50 states are in support of marriage equality. Despite poll numbers showing support, the majority within the Republican party still oppose same sex marriage. Current Fox News host and former governor of Arkansas, Mike Huckabee has been extremely critical of the direction the Republican party seems to be moving in when it comes to the issue of marriage equality.

During the October 12 edition of "Huckabee" on Fox News, the former governor blasted Thursday's Supreme Court ruling that recognized the constitutional rights of LGBT individuals, The ruling now allows the states that had appealed, Utah, Oklahoma, Virginia, Wisconsin and Indiana, to all recognize same-sex marriage in their state. Huckabee called the decision a "betrayal of our Constitution," and that he was "utterly disgusted" with the Republican governors who complied with the court's orders.

Huckabee also gave his opinion on same-sex marriage, calling it "inconsistent with nature and nature's law," before sending a message to the Republican party as a whole: "Grow a spine, show a modicum of knowledge about the way we govern ourselves, and lead, follow, or get the heck out of the way." Earlier in the week Huckabee sat down for an interview with the American Family Association, where he threatened to possibly leave the Republican party and become an independent if the party continues to cave on LGBT issues. Huckabee is expected to make a run for the White House in 2016.
