"... Trump's refusal to press Peña Nieto in person about funding a border wall between the US and Mexico demonstrated Trump's lack of confidence as a leader." Either that or he recognizes that the "wall" is a farce!

'He choked': Joe Scarborough slams Donald Trump's meeting with the Mexican president
By Maxwel Tani, September 1, 2016

MSNBC host Joe Scarborough mocked Donald Trump on Thursday for failing to bring up a central part of his pitch to voters during his meeting with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto.

On "Morning Joe," the host said Trump's refusal to press Peña Nieto in person about funding a border wall between the US and Mexico demonstrated Trump's lack of confidence as a leader.

"If that's the center of your campaign, how do you not get the job done when you're there?" Scarborough said.

He added: "He had the guy in front of him and he choked. He choked! I can't stand people who choke under pressure."

Cohost Mika Brzezinski also expressed dismay, scoffing at comparisons to other summits between well-known US diplomats and foreign leaders and calling Wednesday's meeting a "ridiculous session with the president of Mexico about a wall that's never going to happen."

"Just think about this," Brzezinski said. "Think about the Brent Scowcrofts and the Bob Gates and the Brzezinskis and the Kissingers of the world and the meetings that we've covered. This is a joke. We're trying to make this into something it's not."

It's unclear whether the payment for a theoretical wall was discussed. While Trump denied during a news conference that the two leaders discussed who would pay for the wall, Peña Nieto said after the news conference that he did in fact tell the Republican presidential candidate that Mexico would not fund the border wall.
