"... Giuliani persevered, trying to justify Trump's lewd words with the justification that he wasn't running for president at the time." That doesn't wash, Giuliani.

Chuck Todd Served Rudy Giuliani a Cold, Hard Dish of the Truth
It's pretty awkward defending Donald Trump right now.
By Peter Wade, October 9, 2016

Chuck Todd began his interview with Rudy Giuliani on Meet the Press Sunday by setting the bar low and asking Giuliani if there was any chance Trump decides to skip the next presidential debate. It's a softball he lobbed to lure Rudy into a false sense of complacency before launching his attack.

Why did Kellyanne Conway and Reince Preibus cancel their appearances on the Sunday shows, Todd asked. "Are you the only one in the campaign who's willing to publicly defend him?"

Probably. Nevertheless, Giuliani persevered, trying to justify Trump's lewd words with the justification that he wasn't running for president at the time.

Chuck Todd would not suffer this bullshit lightly. "Well, he wasn't running for president so it's okay to be a misogynist? He wasn't running for president, so it's okay to make unwanted sexual advances?"

Giuliani, of course, had no sufficient answer to these questions other than to say that Trump only talked about making unwanted sexual advances. If he actually made unwanted sexual advances, "that would be worse." He then tried to pivot, saying Hillary Clinton is "two different people" and brought up the emails released by Wikileaks from Clinton's campaign chair, John Podesta.

That was the moment that Todd, spotting a weakened prey, went in for the kill.

"If you believe that Hillary Clinton says one thing in private and that means what she really is is what she is in private, should we assume that what Donald Trump did in that Access Hollywood bus is really what Donald Trump is like in private? That's what you're implying here with Hillary Clinton."

Giuliani shook his head and audibly "oof"-ed. Yep. That's gonna leave a mark.
