"Attempting to buy elections is not the American way. This is a democracy, not a self proclaimed Koch theocracy."

Conservative group, Koch brothers target Iowa
By Deb McMahon, July 7, 2014

The Koch Brothers are now setting their sights on our state and are ready with open pockets to buy each of us. This is what our state has become? Open to the highest bidder? That is what happens when you have a Supreme Court that allows such shenanigans like Citizens United to stand.

Although I applaud Mark Lucas' service to our country, he is sadly misguided by the Koch brothers and their bags of money. He believes that they are concerned about low taxes but does not realize that they are concerned about their own taxes being lowered. Somehow they have captured the naive by convincing them they want what is best for them. Nothing could be further from the truth.

It was Lord Acton, the British historian, who said: "All power tends to corrupt; absolute power corrupts absolutely." The Koch brothers love power and will go to any lengths to attain it. Since they have an abundant treasure chest of money, they have been successful in influencing some elections. Buying politicians means they owe the Koch brothers. And the price is very dear. Say goodbye to integrity and to a government of the people, by the people and for the people.

And say hello to King Kochs.

Their money is intoxicating and habit-forming. Being able to get your message out by buying the airwaves is alluring. Like an addiction. The candidates that they support must understand that they are no longer free. They are now mouthpieces for the Koch brothers and their deluded message. Their job is to vote the way they are told to vote and they better tow [sic] the line. They have sold their souls for a chance to represent the "conservative view" which translates to the Koch power play.

Attempting to buy elections is not the American way. This is a democracy, not a self proclaimed Koch theocracy. They say money talks but hopefully it does not buy votes.
