Letter: Koch Brothers Celebrating Win
By Frank Newman, November 24, 2014

Some statistics from the November elections: Only 13 percent of voters between 18-29 voted, only 38 percent of qualified voters actually voted, and 58 percent voted Republican.

Did so many people vote Republican because they were angry at the Feds and NSA’s constant snooping into our personal lives, trying to find terrorists where none exist? Were they angry that their small amount of money at the bank only gets one-quarter of 1 percent interest when inflation is running at 2 percent to 3 percent? Were they angry that the government has not prosecuted the manipulaters at hedge funds who run up the price of gas and other commodities?

Were they angry that the government has not stopped the financial schemes such as derivatives and credit default swaps that will lead to the next financial crash? Were they angry that their wages have stagnated for years while the top bosses in banks and corporations make millions each year? Were they angry that the U.S. has been suckered into an incremental battle in the Middle East again by the Israelis?

Unfortunately, no! Most of the ads in Arkansas were devoted to Gawd, Guns, Gays, Obamacare and also a real hatred for President Barack Obama. Thousands of those ads were placed by the Koch brothers’ front groups and also the Karl Rove front group. The billionaire Koch brothers and their buddies are laughing themselves silly, because they don’t give a rat’s behind for any of those so-called issues, and it was too easy to get people to vote against their own self interest.
