Davis wants to be a martyr for the cause? So let her! If she refuses to do her job, she should be shown the door-- to a jail cell.

COMMENTS:
*  So in a wing nutshell, as Davis sees it, she wants to keep her job, and continue to receive taxpayer-financed paychecks, but she also wants the freedom not to do her job whenever she feels it.  The local clerk could simply find some other line of work – one that doesn’t cause a conflict between her spiritual beliefs and her responsibilities – but Davis doesn’t want that, either. As far as Davis is concerned, she can refuse to do her job and she can refuse to find a different job.  Nice work if you can get it.
*  She's only had FOUR marriage licenses herself, and comparing the dates of her divorces and marriages to the birth dates of her children, it's pretty darn obvious that she's guilty of adultery. Hypocrite much? Shall we stone her?
*  When someone is paid to do a job, they should do it..Otherwise they are breaking a moral obligation to those who chose them.

Supreme Court rules against clerk in gay marriage case
By Claire Galofaro, September 1, 2015

The Supreme Court on Monday ruled against the Kentucky county clerk who has refused to issue same-sex marriage licenses, and the clerk will arrive at work Tuesday morning to face her moment of truth.

Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis will have to choose whether to issue marriage licenses, defying her Christian conviction, or continue to refuse them, defying a federal judge who could pummel her with fines or order that she be hauled off to jail.

COMMENTS:
*  Can we please find a Muslim clerk to refuse to do their job because a woman refused to wear a head scarf & see if Davis, Bevin and Huckabee support them?
    *  They won't because they believe in Christian freedom, not religious freedom.
*  Put her in jail, let her pray her way out. This isn't a theocracy and they are not going to turn it into one with their version of Sharia law.  Enough - she's in contempt; why should she be exempt from punishment?
*  what this is all about that the law should bend to Christian dogma unfortunately this is why I find Christians so dangerous...it's thier way or the highway...what happened to tolerance??!!!!

Kentucky Clerk Kim Davis Wants to Be Removed From Office. So Be It.
By Michelangelo Signorile, September 1, 2015

It's clear now that Kim Davis, the Rowan County, Kentucky clerk who has refused to issue marriage licenses to anyone because of her religious opposition to marriage equality, is going to be a martyr to the cause. She and her supporters want a photo-op of her perhaps being physically removed from office so they can visually show what they claim is religious "persecution."

And now it's time for those of us who support justice to say, "So be it." We cannot be held hostage to the theatrics of religious extremists, nor should we allow them to think that supposedly bad "optics" will deter us in demanding our rights. Defying the Supreme Court, which refused to grant her a stay as she appeals a ruling ordering her to issue licenses, Davis turned away couples again today. When asked under who's authority she was doing this, she replied, "God's authority," and also said she'd face the "consequences" and told a gay couple they too "will face the consequences when it comes time for judgement."

*  Wow, so it's really true. This sow has been married four times - that we know of. Divorced three times? Four months after divorcing husband number one, she had twins that were fathered by her THIRD HUSBAND? Then she married husband number two. Then she divorced husband number two. Then she married husband three - her baby daddy, with whom she had an adulterous affair while married to her first husband. Then she divorced husband number three. And married for a fourth time. THIS PIG IS TELLING GAY PEOPLE THEY CAN'T GET MARRIED? Wow. I hope she does end up in jail. She is a nasty gross adulterous hooer who is also a glutton - which can be seen by her weight. I don't judge people based on their weight or even if they commit adultery numerous times.....but people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
*  Her act of issuing a DOCUMENT does not infringe on any "right" she may have. She is not being required to do anything more than issue a government document.  Now unless she can find some "right" to keep her job she'll either have to quit or be removed because she is incapable of doing her job as required by the law.  I don't agree with gay "marriage" but that's only an issue if you want me to attend the wedding or perform the service.
*  Lock this #$%$ up for contempt of court. If she is as religious as she says, she should know this " render unto Caesar what is Caesars and render unto God what is Gods". Since we go to the government(Caesar) for the marriage license and not to some Church. She should have no problem following the law. Doing her job is not against her belief. If it is, then she should find a different job, after she gets out of jail.

Clerk cites ‘God’s authority’ over Supreme Court on gay marriage. What now?

The Supreme Court denied Kentucky clerk Kim Davis’s emergency appeal, granting her no 'asylum for her conscience.' On Tuesday, the Rowan County clerk again refused to issue licenses to same-sex couples.

By Patrik Jonsson, September 1, 2015

Rowan County, Ky., court clerk Kim Davis has for months defied the United States Supreme Court’s ruling on gay marriage, citing Biblical principle. On Tuesday, she took her decision to hold “God’s authority” above the law of the land to the next level, in a bold move defying the Supreme Court directly.

A day after her legal options ran out as the Supreme Court declined to take up her appeal, Ms. Davis denied the marriage license of James Yates and Will Smith Jr., saying they’d have to wait "a long time" for the piece of paper that bestows the benefits of marriage upon eligible couples.

As dueling groups of protesters chanted “Praise the Lord!” and "Do your job!" Davis asked the couple to leave the courthouse.

Davis's lawyers have argued that forcing her to issue licenses to same-sex couples would infringe on her First Amendment right to freedom of religion. But courts have uniformly ruled against her. While it appears Davis’s legal options may have run out, her decision to continue to deny licenses has energized religious opponents of gay marriage.

Any punishment levied against her will likely only raise her profile as a religious martyr, says University of Minnesota constitutional law professor Brian Bix. But the endgame is now fairly clear.

“I’m surprised she hasn’t been held in contempt yet,” says Professor Bix, who contributed an amicus brief to the Supreme Court’s gay marriage decision. “I respect people’s sincere religious beliefs, but she has a job as a government official, and it’s not for her to refuse to do her job.”
