"Leave it to a Brit to make sense of it all."

COMMENTS:
*  What is sad is that 'I don't think this is ok" seems to make people think they can use that to force everyone to do at they think....your God is not my God - I do not morally believe the same as you so why should your 'religious beliefs' be used to police my uterus?
*  Abortion is legal in this country. REpublicans and evangelicals should NOT be trying to find ways to prevent abortions. It is a decision between a woman and her doctor. For a group that says they want small government, they sure have a big need to control women's bodies. Wonder how fast that would change if women refused to have sex, cause I might get pg when we do not now really want a child?
   *  Sadly a lot of husbands would rape their wives because they think that marriage means they have the right to sex on demand...and abortions would happen anyway the back alley women bleeding to death kind that Roe vs Wade put an end too but people forget that part!!!!!
*  America has turned into a country of citizens who want the right to force other citizens to live under THEIR rules. Whether the topic is abortion, guns, drugs, sex education... really, the topic doesn't matter at all. Some people are against abortions, period, so they want ALL abortions to be illegal, period. The only problem with that line of thinking? When it comes to THEIR family members, THEIR mistresses, THEIR women... suddenly they want to be able to get abortions performed in secret so nobody will find out they were responsible for an abortion after spending so long screeching about how evil they are. It's like the ministers who screech about how evil sex outside of marriage is, only to be caught having sex outside of marriage. Or the politicians screeching about how evil being gay is, only to be caught being gay themselves. Our country may be full of busybodys who want to run everyone elses lives, but the number of hypocrites far outnumber the busybodys...
*  Not one woman has ever been refused by a hospital because the doctor who performed her abortion lacked admitting priviledges.
*  The Taliban is sadly alive and in control in the anti-abortion legislatures.
*  So they "lack responsibility, accountability, and most importantly, MORALS" . . . and you want to force them to be mothers. Is that a good idea?
*  My mother-in-law died at the age of 46 from a botched illegal abortion. She left behind 9 children and a husband.  When we were 17 (in 1960), a friend of mine was brutally raped by a stranger. She spent a week in the hospital. When she discovered that she was pregnant as a result of the rape, she and her mother decided to get an illegal abortion, the only kind available at that time. The abortion was botched, and she was left unable to have children.  Making abortions illegal doesn't stop abortions. It just makes them illegal and a whole lot more dangerous.

John Oliver Tackles Our Ridiculous Anti-Abortion Laws
Leave it to a Brit to make sense of it all.
By Matt Miller, February 2016

A woman's right to choose remains one of our nation's most divisive issues, drawing impassioned arguments from the right, the left, and everywhere in between. Leave it to John Oliver to find a way for Americans—or, at least the 81 percent of Americans who believe that abortion should be legal at least under certain circumstances—to have an honest conversation. He did so on Sunday's Last Week Tonight by first by discussing the spectrum of opinions on abortion beyond pro-choice and pro-life. He then summarily dismisses the 19 percent who would never condone abortion under any circumstances, and goes on to deconstruct some truly ridiculous abortion laws.

They're called TRAP (Targeted Regulation of Abortion Providers) laws, and they're responsible for "Mississippi having four times as many S's as it has abortion clinics," Oliver says. TRAP legislation aims to chip away at Roe v. Wade by enacting absurd requirements such as insisting that abortion clinics must have eight-foot-wide hallways so as to accommodate two gurneys. "It's like seeing that photo of a Taco Bell employee licking the food and saying 'Okay all restaurants have to have corridors that are at least eight feet wide,'" Oliver says. "Hold on, that's going to shut down most of the restaurants in the country and you've done nothing to address the root problem."  There's another law that requires doctors to spread misinformation (abortions cause breast cancer? Really?). Another law attempts to stop an abortion clinic from being located within 2,000 feet of a school. "They're treating someone as a sex offender, when he clearly isn't one. It's a move known as a Reverse Cosby," Oliver says.

"If all this has made you sad or angry then you should really keep an eye on these laws," Oliver says, before pointing out that abortion clinics are at the center of a Supreme Court case being heard on March 2. And if all that really bummed you out, Oliver has some adorable sloths in a bucket.
