Taking Bets on Vermont's Session

Long on outrage about the status quo but short on details about the new order they envision, they say Vermont could establish its own Social Security system, tend to health care and maintain roads using the billions of dollars in taxes it could save by not paying federal taxes."

From the Boston Globe:
SHELBURNE, Vt.—Peter Garritano thinks it's time for Vermont to call it quits with America.

The way the 54-year-old automobile salesman sees it, the "empire" is about to implode and tiny Vermont can lead the way by becoming its own independent republic. So he's running for lieutenant governor, topping a slate of secession-minded candidates seeking statewide offices this year.

Anyone take notice that Texas never followed up with their secession? Which would be more successful at total independence? There are looney tunes everywhere and someone to let you know about them.

From the story about the "TEA" Party at the Dome.......

"Tom Newcomer, who was carrying a Confederate flag, said he is concerned about legislative efforts that he believes step beyond the Constitution in the areas of free speech, gun rights and property. He said activists showed up “to take our state back.” He didn’t offer specifics about what he considered excessive." Do they ever offer specifics?

"Initiative promoter Tim Eyman addressed the crowd in a second, mid-afternoon rally" No news here...this is telling us that PT Barnum is at the circus

Now here is the real scarey response from the comments:

It appears that the Olympian like most of the failing newspapers in this country, can't get over the PC need to have an opposing view from an obvious descenter, who's sarcastic remark about the "activists" throwing out SS, Medicare and Medicaid, had nothing to do with the objectives of the "Citizens" who were present. Jim Moeller wouldn't dare call a group of SEIU arm breakers, "activists". Nor would he call ACORN reps. gathering illegal votes, "activists", but housewives, retirees, business men and women, blue collar workers and students are "activists" if they disagree with the party line Jim so willingly spouts at their expense. These two fine reporters for the Olympian managed to pick out an odd ball with a confederate flag, but they missed the 300 every day citizens who don't like the attempt by people like Jim "the activist" Moeller, to turn their country into a third world socialist has been. You two are prime examples of the bias that is destroying your profession and jobs.

Also notable is the fact that it was Republican Lincoln who signed the emancipation proclamation.
Also notable is the fact that the Dixiecrats of the South all aligned with the Republicans that opposed civil rights in the 1960s (a little more recent than the Civil War) and have created the new and improved Republicans of today that wouldn't know Abe Lincoln if he stood next to them.

Monday, I went to the Orthodoc and got another cortisone shot in the shoulder. It's improving, but the subsequent nerve/muscle pain and spasms are enough to drive you nuts (like I need help, huh?)

So, yesterday, we added a muscle relaxer to the medical treatment. Hey! It worked! It also knocked me on my ass and I slept away a good portion of the day, thus my days are nights and nights are days.

Anything for relief. This has been going for over three months. If I don't see complete relief by March it's knife time.

Look at the source and realize that about 90% of the money for Kerry and Obama were personal contributions from folks working for Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac. Meager amounts from PACs.

But...the Republicans are flipped the other way...most of the FMFM money coming from PAC and the individual donors are way down.

Interesting what happens when you dig deeper and don't manipulate the numbers, huh?

http://www.thefoxnation.com/politics/2010/01/14/tea-party-convention-announcement

"First, we are pleased to announce that the convention has sold out and we now have a waiting list which we will continue to try to clear as opportunity presents. In this light, we have had numerous requests for press passes and the resulting expected coverage. However, as we have set expectations that this is a working convention, we have tried not to make it a media event. In fact, Tea Party Nation has received hundreds of requests for press credentials to cover this convention. Everyone from a small town newspaper in Iowa to Fox News has asked for press credentials. We have had requests from Canada, England, France, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Norway, Croatia and Japan. We have been hard pressed to accommodate all of these requests and do not have the space or resources to support the entirety of the press corp. Indeed, we have asked the hotel if they would be willing to provide a press room during the convention."

Now...let's see......FOX Nation is supporting this event....but.... "We have been hard pressed to accommodate all of these requests and do not have the space or resources to support the entirety of the press corp"

Do I smell a "FOX only" coverage and all sorts of trumped up misinformation about what took place, the number of attendees, etc?

Am I being too skeptical?

A bottle of scotch and an oz?

“If you believe that it is OK for kids in school to use marijuana and be high, then you should pass either one or both of these,” said Don Pierce, executive director of the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs.

This was testimony during the Legislature discussion about the legalization and sale of marijuana to adults via liquor stores. The obvious intention is to close the black market and make tax money.

I happen to know Don Pierce and I know his intentions are good, but in reality he is a lobbyist. I'm not sure why Police Chiefs and Sheriffs would not want to see the black market eliminated (by competitive pricing....let's face it...pot is cheap to grow) nor do I understand why they would oppose more tax revenue to increase their manpower.

Any thoughts?

From the LTE

A citizen from Thurston County poses a question in the local media:

"Why should legislators be allowed to use per diem when they go home at night?"

A reader commented that "hey are a bunch of arrogant know-it-alls that look down their collective noses at us while they spend our money and ignore our wishes."

I'm sure our friend will be as direct with "the other side":

"In Palin's case, the state is also paying for at least some meals when she's staying in Wasilla. Like other state officials, she's entitled to $60 a day "per diem" for food and incidentals, such as tips, while traveling on state business. State rules say that if your job stations you in Juneau or Anchorage, but you live in another part of the state, you can still get the meal money when visiting your hometown, said Linda Perez, director of administrative services for the governor."

Gee, thanks a pantload, Pat!

Something happened a long time ago in Haiti, and people might not want to talk about it. They were under the heel of the French--uhh, you know, Napoleon III or whatever. And they got together and swore a pact to the Devil. They said, "We will serve you if you'll get us free from the French." True story. And so the Devil said, "OK, it's a deal." And they kicked the French out—you know, the Haitians revolted and got themselves free. But ever since they have been cursed by one thing after the other—desperately poor. That island of Hispaniola is one island. It's cut down the middle. On the one side is Haiti, on the other side is the Dominican Republic. The Dominican Republic is prosperous, healthy, full of resorts, etcetera. Haiti is in desperate poverty. Same island.

They need to have---and we need to pray for them—a great turning to God. And out of this tragedy I'm optimistic something good may come. But right now we're helping the suffering people and the suffering is unimaginable.

Whattaya think, people? Nuts or Nutz?

OK folks. I posted it, you comment.

The future of ThurstonBlog

I have business to take up with The Olympian and I don't think there will be happy faces, so I'm going to avoid posts in The Olympian. I can legally quote anything I'd like, providing I credit it and if any media has a problem, the procedure is called a "cease and desist". It requires a legal name and address of the offended party and their representation, should they choose one. The Olympian, rightfully controls their blogs, but rightfully is responsible for their blogs, as am I for this one. It shall be interesting.

It is my intention to take this out of the public light, as I have aspirations for consideration for another non-profit job and I'm not interested in airing my fight with The Olympian in their product. That is their choice and control. That being said, I have no control over those that copy and paste from my blog and post on their blogs. They will need to maintain that.

After some serious consideration and watching the community growth at ThurstonBlog, I've taken the position that I could care less if the LTE thread is shut down. That is the business of The Olympian. I do know that if it IS shut down - or all of their blogs, for that matter - that removes the avenue for my detractors to post (for however long possible) detrimental matter about me. Obviously, it is to my advantage to see this happen. It's my intention to place The Olympian in a position of having to seriously moderate or shut down. I've tried to be patient and supportive to their labor challenges, but I'm not foresaking myself for their problems.

Looking forward. I thank those that have enjoyed and supported ThurstonBlog, so here is my pledge:

1. I'll rid the blog of any detractors IMMEDIATELY. I'm not running a personality contest here, and I don't give a damn about their stupidity concerning "freedom of speech".

2. I'll continue to cover the topical issues of our local newspaper, as it is local news just as much as any other local news, but like a good blogger, I'll use the resources right in front of my face to find other topical issues to converse.

3. I'll continue to encourage those with the desire, to submit information to register for blog author positions. This will broaden the horizon of information sources.

The success of ThurstonBlog will depend on the comments and contributions of the community. I'd like to see a mix of political positions, but I'll not allow extremism to run roughshod over the discussion. I have asked several conservative minded people to consider participating with us. I think, given the time and a little less controversy, they'll dip their toe in the waters. I may even take up a conservative cause, as there are certain issues I find myself on the Right of center.

Humor is important and, regardless of what some might say, there are some damned humorous things that the neo-cons of Thurston County say and do. They will be covered, as they have been covered. Hypocrisy will be exposed.

The rest of it is up to the community. I'm in charge of managing and some writing, but what makes a good blogging community is participation.

My piece of turf

Yep....I got just a little rowdy this afternoon on The Olympian LTE forum. I get damned tired of the lies and so I shoved it right down Cheeseburger's throat.

Thanks to TGA for becoming the voice of reason, but I think everyone caught my response to Tammy McGee that I'll not stand by and have my professional character defamed for sport by SondraMarkWoodK.

I've already had a very serious conversation with Lui Long at The Olympian, and my next contact will be the Publisher, because I'm done playing games. I will sue and either The Olympian will provide the poster information voluntarily or it will be part of a court order. "Pay me now, or pay me later" is the old saying......

"Why is torture commonly used?"

Bubba wrote on 01/13/2010 12:58:16 PM ... it does seem odd that if torture doesn't work, why is it so commonly used? ...

Because it appeals to a certain base mindset of people in a position to do the torturing. It doesn't matter whether or not any good information is obtained or whether the people being tortured even would have been in a position to have any kind of information in the first place, it's the act of torture that is satisfying to that kind of people.

Where to donate children's jackets/coats

I managed to capture the sequence of messages started by sparkle's post to the LTE comments, Tuesday, January 12th. Because that day's comments were deleted by the O, I have been asked to post them here to preserve the very helpful information that was posted in response to sparkle's request.

I didn't include any of the hateful comments except one from abc at 2:12 pm that also included a suggestion of church programs that will take and distribute clothing (as well as food and furniture).

Also, nothing to do with the subject of where to donate clothing, but OlyKay's comment at 1:13 apparently is what triggered the string of invective from the "K Krowd" and the O's subsequent deletion of the comments in response.

sparkle, this is an important resource:

Olympia School District Education Foundation
through its Principal's Emergency Checkbook Fund
Telephone 753-8853
Website www.osdef.org
Email bsperry@osd.wednet.edu

The contact information was good on 10/09/09 when I last made a donation.

It funds resources for principals (teacher's too, of course) who come in first-hand contact with children with needs not otherwise met, including for children who need warm coats. It is an IRS 501(c)(3) charity, so a donation is tax deductible, if you want to keep track.

I've always written a check, so I don't know about donations of goods, but they should know where to send you.

When I was growing up, any coats, scarves, mittens, etc. of mine I didn't use (even for a while) would disappear because my mom would take them for her students who were cold.

January 12, 2010 11:13 PM" A little Bruces Hornsby music please....

The above quote was taken from a comment on "How can they do it?" on ThurstonBlog.

As some of you know, but some don't, I separated from Big Brothers Big Sisters on October 9, 2009, as part of an attempt to save a Foster Care mentoring program and two caseworker jobs, thus I've been experiencing unemployment. My salary saved two 3/4 time caseworkers and left the board of directors with the resposibility of fundraising.

I'm one of the lucky ones. I have lots of skills learned over the years, thus a real strong resume. At times, I've been the target on The Olympian threads, because I relate my experience of a previous job. People have commented "Is there anything he hasn't done" or "can't hold down a job". The typical catcalling that we have learned to expect from those hosers. I'm glad for my experience. It's what makes the difference at a financial time like this.

Yesterday, I met with the owners of a linen/industrial laundry - one of my former competitors. We agreed in principle to me starting work with them on March 1st, subject to a mutual agreement on the compensation package. As usual, in my work, it will be performance based, thus I get paid for what I produce. Add an average earning year and the benefit package together, and the compensation, at first glance is about $70 a year. If I'm more successful in my endeavors....who knows? When I left that industry, I was rated #4 in the nation with ALSCO, but ran up against a brick wall in terms of the corporation's willingness to make the next growth step, thus freezing my earning capacity.

Now, why the history lesson of Larry's career? A little reality check for those "NeoCons".

First of all...they'd like to tell you how much they give. How many of them would volunteer to be the "sacrificial lamb" to save a program for 60 kids and retain two co-workers jobs?

Second....just because you have that toe hold on that government job, doesn't mean it will last forever. My wife is interviewing right now, with 8 years of seniority, because of a layoff with the State. Two things here.....management screwed her on her seniority with a bogus "reasonable accomodation" issue......and.....anyone is dispensible, as long as you are a worker bee.

Again...the Mrs and I are doing well. We live pretty frugal for the money we have earned and had some options to exercise. Not everyone does.

Which brings me back to "unemployment" and the NeoCons. It's a buzz word to them. Watching Palin's minute in glory ( I couldn't stomach any more) she threw out the phrase "10% unemployment" out several times.....but what is SHE doing about it?????? She walked from the leadership job where she could have made a difference to take the talking heads job. Another career of bathing suit and talent competitions. This is what the neocons embrace.

Trust me when I tell you, the neocons are NOT the people that assist others in need. They are too busy telling them what they've done wrong.

man in the silk suit hurries by and catches the poor old lady's eye, just for fun he says "get a job"

OK...so where does this all go for Larry? It looks like Mrs will end up back with the State, after two interviews this week and Larry has a deal in the works....but....there is this Development Director's job, with this local 501c3 non-profit that needs someone to help them raise money. It's probably $20K less a year.....but........

We'll see.

That's just the way it is....somethings will never change....

Sock Puppets?

OlyKay wrote on 01/12/2010 06:37:00 AM:
Could someone explain to me what is the meaning of "sock puppets" used on this blog? Seems to go back before my time...

"Sock puppets" was a genius terminology by someone on the O's LTE thread referring to an individual who has more than one account, thus multiple personalities on the thread - sometimes conversing to himself/herself and definitely "recommending" his/her posts.

Now, can someone tell me what you win if you have the most recommended post?

No offense intended

OK....I'll fess up my secret. I used to read National Lampoon Humor Magazine back in the early 70s. Nothing....I mean....nothing was sacred or politically correct...which is part of what made it so funny.

One particular cartoonist, Charlie Rodriguez, was hilarious. You may remember his cartoon called "Charlie", a crudely drawn black and white of this little man that ended up in some kind of a disaster at all times. Ol' Rod passed in 2004, at the age of 77 and his stuff is hard to find. I went hunting for "The Aesop Brothers" - George and Alex - who were Siamese twins, a staple series in Lampoon for many months, but there is nothing on the web. George and Alex portrayed the problems of conjoined twins - having to take a shit, trying to get laid......you get the picture.

If it was "off limits", Charlie took George and Alex through it.

While hunting for material, I did come across this tidbit that Rodriguez did on "Homosexuality". WARNING - you have to think outside the box on these. Go ahead and be a little sick in your sense of humor.Seriously, I do pledge, that if anyone is offended, I'll pull this off the blog. But since I'm reminded of Independent Voter's rant about homosexuals, I couldn't resist.

Enjoy.....I hope.....

Thanks to the new bloggers

I appreciate the input from those that signed up to be blog authors. It provides fresh material and takes the work load off me.

That leaves me open to sucker punch the Sock Puppet Theater Group.

There is no question that this is getting under the skin. The crickets keep chirping...LMAO

Keep it up. Anyone else want to author? Let me know.

Election Reform

One of things I am looking forward to doing whilst posting here is to get some positive feedback and dialogue on certain issues that I, and probably many others, believe to be important. LTE’s is not the correct venue for that.

One of the issues is election reform, and I’m talking from the bottom up. From paper trail ballots, to having the elections no longer controlled by special interest monies.

It’s a tall order to research, however grass root ideas start this way, with one person putting it out there and the collective community participating in the brain storming process.

In the next few days I’ll be posting more thoughts on this subject, it sickens me that WE THE PEOPLE are being sold out as if we’re the lowest common denominator.

Any Ideas would be of value.

Someone pulled a Boehner

Or is it boner?

This post, from dear old Sloboda of the FTE comments in the Daily O, is running viral on the Right Wing Blogs of the internet...

The year is 1947 Some of you will recall that on July 8, 1947, a little over 60 years ago, witnesses claim that an unidentified flying object (UFO) with five aliens aboard crashed onto a sheep and mule ranch just outside Roswell , New Mexico . This is a well known incident that many say has long been covered up by the U.S. Air Force and other federal agencies and organizations.

However, what you may NOT know is that in the month of April 1948, nine months after that historic day, the following people were born: Albert A. Gore, Jr., Hillary Rodham, John F. Kerry, William J. Clinton, Howard Dean, Nancy Pelosi, Dianne Feinstein, Charles E. Schumer and Barbara Boxer .

See what happens when aliens breed with sheep and jackasses? I certainly hope this bit of information clears up a lot of things for you. It did for me. No wonder they support the bill to help illegal aliens!

Now...the funny part....it's not even close to accurate! Random checks show that they are born in different years, not to mention different months.

My guess? Someone pulled the punk of the day on the Rightees, knowing that if you said something negative about that list of names, no one would research it for accuracy.

I dumped a bunch of correct birthdates in the O thread and got bored looking them up.

It would have only been better to have happened on April Fools Day.

The Metaphorical Nickle

I will briefly speak about SondraK (or whatever she's calling herself today):
After name calling numerous commenters for months on end, she now decides what decorum is appropriate on the LTE comments page, well we can only hope that she's turned a new leaf, or has had some grand awaking. My hopefulness for that is slim.
She has baited me to tell her how I feel about her on the LTE forum, since saying my thoughts elsewhere, according to her, is "talking behind her back." The LTE forum is not the appropriate venue for that, plus I'm not her friend, nor am I still in middle school. I can freely say that their is no love lost there.
She made veiled threats yesterday, naming me in them, and for what reason I do not know. Most of us know she is an attention whore, just waiting for that nickle to be deposited on her bedpost, since she ain't worth a dime.
That said, I am now choosing to rarely leave her that metaphorical nickle she so desperately wants, as she makes my skin crawl. It is apparent that her view of reality is skewed, she's a liar, and has proven over and over, that even placed with the evidence of her lies, she continues to lie.
Case and point:
SondraKovacio Comment on: Letters to the Editor for Jan. 8 at 1/8/2010 3:07 PM PST on The Olympian That's nice, Larry.I didn't hack your computer.
Well enough said, if we give her the metaphorical nickle, she will push for the dime.

Larry, I understand you have a place to freely engage in the activities of character assassination, gossip and the other mean spirited juvenile behavior if you MUST. People are well within their rights to reasonably expect a dialogue free from being bullied and relentlessly attacked day after day, comment after comment from morning until night. It's stupid, it's soooo old and it just keeps escalating.Instead of jumping all over those calling out this behavior, try calling out those who engage in it for once.

Gee, after all this time, merry still doesn't know how it works. It never has been a case of "never got a word in", merry. You and someone else can post a comment at just about the same time, but the Pluck system accepts and posts both of them, giving preference to the one that got there a fraction of a second ahead. The point is that both comments are posted! Geez, Cheesey....do you think it might be higher tides and less ability to contain said tides because there is nothing to stop the tidal motion?

A micro-example of what could happen on a large scale with a greater increase in tidal flows due to polar thaws.......

Let's examine Justin's question/statement

JustinKover wrote on 01/09/2010 01:10:39 PM:
I am disappointed that the comments were shut down yesterday. With a letter about how Sarah Palin was right about Obama, I figured the Larry's of this forum would froth. Alas, I didn't get to see.

From yesterday's LTE - In September 2008, Sarah Palin made her nomination speech. Her book, “Going Rogue,” contains the speech, and I was particularly interested in the following comments about her Democratic opponent: “What does he actually see to accomplish, after he’s done turning back the waters and healing the planet?

Tell us Justin....how was Sarah Palin "right" about Obama?

As is true with the Right Wing Extremists (which after your attack on the Tumwater Council people, I've begun to see your direction), you've been taken for a ride on the "turning back the waters and healing the planet" quote.

You see, Barack Obama never said he would do that and the best part about this misquote/misinformation game is that Amy Holmes, the CNN water carrier for the Republicans got caught with her foot in her mouth on this one on Bill Mahr's show about a year ago.

I'll let Business Week's Dave Kiley do the talking.....

An Open Letter To CNN's Amy Holmes
Posted by: David Kiley on November 01

I was watching the 10/31 installment of “Real Time With Bill Maher” during which the discussion naturally centered on the election.

Guest and conservative commentator Amy Holmes, who is a contributor to CNN, was insinuating that Barack Obama has a Messiah complex. She cited a speech he gave that she calls his “Moses Speech,” in which she said Obama talked about the idea that his Presidency will make “the seas will recede and the planet will heal.”

Maher and fellow-guest Cornell West doubted her. She said “Google it.”

So, I did.

Here is the text of Obama’s speech on June 3 that Holmes refers to:

"The journey will be difficult. The road will be long. I face this challenge with profound humility, and knowledge of my own limitations. But I also face it with limitless faith in the capacity of the American people. Because if we are willing to work for it, and fight for it, and believe in it, then I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal; this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on earth. This was the moment—this was the time—when we came together to remake this great nation so that it may always reflect our very best selves and our highest ideals. Thank you, God bless you, and may God bless the United States of America."

Ms. Holmes, intellectual honesty has been in short supply this election season. I thought you were better than this. Is there any doubt that Obama was referring to taking charge of environmental policy from the global warming denying Bush Administration, and not having a messiah moment? This is barely Hannity-worthy. Give me a break." (end of Kiley's story)

So...as we see....Palin did nothing other than normal....take a year old misquote and run with it one more time....this time in that pitiful excuse called a biography.

Frothing, Justin? I would think that any patriotic red-blooded American would be "frothing" at the way a former Vice Presidential nominee lies, over and over, continuing to divide the country for her personal political purposes. It was bad enough that Holmes, a supposed journalist was pushing this manure, but a year AFTER it is proven wrong, Palin digs it up again for a book?

The woman is either incredibly sick or the worst example in the world of what we need for leadership.

There it is, Justin......Larry's froth. Now lets see if you have the balls to step up to the plate and admit that Palin is nothing short of a National Enquirer quality gossip or will you make one more excuse for that sad piece of humanity.

Merry and Justin wanted to know....

merry and JustinKover-- want to see some of the reasons why the comments were shut down yesterday (January 8th)?

So what to make, then, of the fact that Beck has had his own minor tax problems over the past few years?

As Beck evolved from a medium-market local radio personality to a one-man media empire with top-rated radio and television shows, best-selling books, a monthly magazine and a traveling one-man comedy tour, his production company, Mercury Radio Arts, has at times struggled to keep up with the heightened tax and filing demands accompanying his success.

Mercury, a private corporation that lists Beck as chief executive officer and his wife, Tania Beck, alternately as vice president or secretary, since 2007 has fallen behind on its New York City business income taxes and has been cited for filing errors related to its obligations under Texas franchise tax and New York state workers' compensation insurance rules.

Beck was not available for comment, and Mercury’s president, Chris Balfe, declined a requested interview. But a source with knowledge of the situation said that Mercury’s tax issues were minor, stemmed from bureaucratic confusion and were rectified quickly once the company learned of them.

“Mercury immediately resolved these very common accounting issues,” said the source, who did not want to be identified discussing Mercury’s finances. Read more:

GOP Eating Their Own

From the Washington Post - Updated 1:00 p.m.By Philip Rucker

Republican congressional leaders say they did not know that their party chairman, Michael S. Steele, was publishing a book until it was released this week, and they had no input in drafting what Steele is promoting as the blueprint Republicans should follow to win back power.

The release of Steele's book, "Right Now: A 12-Step Program for Defeating the Obama Agenda," surprised Republican congressional leaders, some of whom first learned of the book by watching Steele's television appearances this week, three top GOP congressional aides said Friday. The staffers would only describe their bosses' communications with the Republican National Committee chairman on condition of anonymity.

"The book came out and everybody went, 'Whoa, what happened?'" one aide said, adding that his employer, a senior House Republican, learned of the book by watching cable news. "No one in the House or Senate leadership knew he had a book contract."

"He's freelancing," said another top congressional aide.

Steele appeared on a St. Louis radio station Thursday and offered a blistering critique of his Republican critics, going beyond his much-quoted remarks to ABC News Radio. When McGraw Milhaven of KTRS Radio asked Steele if he was a "detriment" to Republican fundraising, Steele said: "I am in this chair. If they want it, take it from me. Until then, shut up, step back and get in the game and help us win -- and stop the back-biting and the name-calling and the finger-pointing."

Steele went on to tell Milhaven: "I hope you play this tape over and over again because these folks are the problem, not the solution. Get with the program. I'm the chairman. Deal with it."

McMahon Versus Dodd, Cage Match

Pictures of the McMahon Family hard at work.

From the Kansas City Star:

Watch out, Chris Dodd. After decades of running the business side of World Wrestling Entertainment, WWE CEO Linda McMahon is jumping into a different ring.
"I've decided to enter the race as GOP candidate for the U.S. Senate from Connecticut," McMahon said.
News of McMahon's candidacy is sure to draw mixed reviews from people who either love or loathe the royal family of wrestling, particularly McMahon's husband, Vince -- a man known for his on-screen temper.
Depending on how you view the Senate, the highly fictional performances in wrestling are either the furthest thing from public service imaginable -- or just a lower-rent version of partisan politics.
While Mrs. McMahon's wrestling persona may have been characterized by jokes and pretend games, she says she's serious about her candidacy for the U.S. Senate. And given the nation's uncertain economic climate, she says her financial expertise makes her the right woman for the job.
"We've got mounting debt in our country. I'm not a politician, but I am a businesswoman," McMahon told us in an exclusive interview at her Connecticut home. "I've created jobs here in Connecticut and [turned] a 13 person company [into one] over 500."

What Linda doesn't mention is that her position with the company has been mostly honorary - becoming "seriously" involved while hubby Vince was dodging bullets on distribution of steriods charges.
Nothing like a quality family representing a nice New England state, huh?

Of Old Dogs and Sock Monkeys...

A wealthy old Gentleman decides to go on a hunting safari in Africa , taking his faithful, elderly dog named Killer, along for the company.

One day the old dog starts chasing rabbits and before long, discovers that he's lost. Wandering about, he notices a leopard heading rapidly in his direction with the intention of having lunch. The old dog thinks, "Oh, ho! I'm in deep doo-doo now!"

Noticing some bones on the ground close by, he immediately settles down to chew on the bones with his back to the approaching cat. Just as the leopard is about to leap, the old dog exclaims loudly, "Boy, that was one delicious leopard! I wonder, if there are any more around here?" Hearing this, the young leopard halts his attack in mid-strike, a look of terror comes over him and he slinks away into the trees. "Whew!", says the leopard, "That was close! That old dog nearly had me!"

Meanwhile, a monkey who had been watching the whole scene from a nearby tree, figures he can put this knowledge to good use and trade it for protection from the leopard. So, off he goes, but the old dog sees him heading after the leopard with great speed, and figures that something must be up. The monkey soon catches up with the leopard, spills the beans and strikes a deal for himself with the leopard. The young leopard is furious at being made a fool of and says, "Here, monkey, hop on my back and see what's going to happen to that conniving canine!

Now, the old dog sees the leopard coming with the monkey on his back and thinks, "What am I going to do now?", but instead of running, the dog sits down with his back to his attackers, pretending he hasn't seen them yet, and just when they get close enough to hear, the old dog says... "Where's that damn monkey? I sent him off an hour ago to bring me another leopard!

Moral of this story... Don't mess with the old dogs... age and skill will always overcome youth and treachery! BS and brilliance only come with age and experience.

Brit Hume recently said: "The extent to which he can recover seems to me depends on his faith. He is said to be a Buddhist. I don't think that faith offers the kind of forgiveness and redemption that is offered by the Christian faith. So, my message to Tiger is, "Tiger, turn to the Christian faith and you can make a total recovery and be a great example to the world."

Just like Ensign, Sanborn, Gingrich, Beck, Craig......

Hume should have said, "Hey Tiger, there's a special this week on forgiveness at the Christian faith!"

Sondra got her hand slapped for referring to our friend "Sparkle" with a derogatory word in Urban lexicon that also means "paste". The Daily O was advised and warned her to knock if off or hit the highway.

She is now referring to Sparkle as "parkle", which brought up this post:

"vanillapost wrote on 12/23/2009 04:36:49 PM:
ondra, you might want to spray out your eyboard. Just a uggestion."

Hey Dennis! You want humor? Look no further than The Daily Olympian's threads.

Media Matters For America has named Fox News anchor Glenn Beck the ‘2009 Misinformer of the Year.’

The organization cited Beck’s “disturbing use of race and race-baiting” (which caused 80 advertisers to drop their ads from his show), “red scare” strategies of calling leading political figures communists, popularizing Sarah Palin’s use of the term “death panels” in the health-care debate, fostering comparisons between the current administration and Nazi Germany, as well as encouraging “violent, anti-government rhetoric” and a belief and support of “wild conspiracies.”

“Each year, Media Matters has the difficult task of determining which media figure has been the most prolific and influential purveyor of conservative misinformation,” Media Matters president Eric Burns said in a statement. “But this year, our choice was easy. Glenn Beck’s paranoid conspiracy theories, disturbing use of race and race-baiting, and tea-party cheerleading made him a shoo-in for Misinformer of the Year for 2009.”

Media Matters, which was launched in 2004 by journalist and author David Brock, describes itself as a “not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) progressive research and information center dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media.” The organization utilizes content analysis, fact-checking, and media-monitoring to track the American media arena.

Glenn Beck is the host of ‘The Glenn Beck Program’ on Fox News. He is a former Top 40 Radio DJ, author and publisher, and former CNN anchor.

Now....for you intellectually honest people....who is missing?
You guessed'er, Chester......Rasmussen.
The good folks at Polling Report must have gotten tired of explaining that
Rasmussen was vastly different than all of the other polls.
It's so nice to use sources that have credibility and are not shills for the Republican Party.
The Right has forsaken FOX for Rasmussen to get the answer they want.

New name, same schtick

blame it on the vast right wing conspiracy reasoned.thats why your a jerk off

JWilson, aka RenMan, Alex and gawd knows what other creation demonstrates a classic example of why the little twit gets tossed off the LTEs more than anyone known to civilized man.

Of course I think the entire puppet show is none other than....you know who.....

Pants on fire!

From __________K.com:

"todaze Lympian
Not satisfied with being too retarded to be aware that that it was President Obama I was quoting, todaze Lympian leaps boundaries, takes it over the edge and attributes it to me:

Keeping score of what? And why? Furthermore, I’m not your brother. If I were, I’d seriously consider urging our father to do an honor killing on you. "

One slight problem.....that quote wasn't on The Olympian, it was on Thurstonblog.

"Anonymous98507 said...

I wonder if she goes out of her way to be wrong and make false statements, or is just plain stupid and doesn't know the difference.

oh...and BTW.....From "The Hill"

“Don’t think we’re not keeping score, brother,” Obama told DeFazio during a closed-door meeting of the House Democratic Caucus, according to members afterward.

I wonder how THAT heresay would stand up in court??????

Burn, baby, burn!
