"Vermin" commenting on the Zero

So a member of the capitalist media who takes photos of demonstrators in a way that makes it easier for police to convict demonstrators for breaking the law, and you're still curious why someone would be upset about that?

Why not just apologize for not understanding that your photos have the potential to seriously hurt people and learn other ways to visually document resistance, like taking photos from above or from behind the action, trying not to focus on specific people who might be willing to break the law and instead capture the mood of the demonstration.

I mean it sucks that your house got attacked if you didn't actually know that what you were doing put people who protest at risk of jail/prison time, being fired from work and police harassment (to name a few ways photographers put people at risk).

Think about journalism in other countries, where if you get filmed at a protest the police can come to your house and take you away, while it's not exactly the same here in Olympia, the similarities are there. Activists and anarchists in Olympia (and around the world and throughout history) get profiled and are commonly intimidated by police after marches and events. Type in "Palmer raids" on a search engine.

Your great picture can put a lot of people in jeopardy, just be conscious of that Tony. Also if a bunch of people want you to leave, then you should probably leave. I don't know why I have to tell you this, but there is a reason why people don't like being filmed doing illegal things.

Also stop yelling at new fathers who you helped put behind bars with your photos when they are being nothing but civil and nice to you. Just cause your house got attacked doesn't give you free reign to be a testosterone fueled jerk Tony.

I request The Olympian leave Swordfern's comment up for all to see, and nobody report it.

Let the rest of the community know just what kind of vermin we're dealing with here.

What is really needed on this comment system is the "thumbs down" rating button in addition to "Report abuse"!

As for "swordfern", anybody want to wager that he/she is one of the "anarchists"?

Vermin? Rest of the community, what community? An online community made up of right wing shock posters talking about gassing Evergreen students with DDT?

You're trying slide past the premise that you're some representative of a community of people who:

    1. Totally exist.
    2. Are totally homogeneous and lacking free critical thought, so they need you to let them know what to watch out for.
    3. Will not like what I had to say.

Not to mention the main premise that my comment is just so inflammatory the Olympian censoring worker will no doubt delete it, and it's up to you to save it to let other people know that I am a vermin for thinking certain ways.

Well, you used the word "Right". That's a hard word to argue with. If breaking windows of specific corporations to protest mountain top-removal or setting tires on fire on a highways to block trucks emptying your bio-region of life are "Wrong" because they are against the law, then that means (according to you) that the law is "Right". Given that "Right" is equated with "Good" and "Wrong" with "Evil", I guess that soldiers raping native women when they were colonizing the USA is "Good" whereas the natives killing the soldiers for their actions are "Evil". In fact that was the way the mass killing of natives played out in the cultural feedback loop of the west. Evil godless natives and the Good God fearing Europeans. The newspapers pushed that delusion for quite sometime. My brother is Army Rangers and was trained at the School of the Americas (you remember the SOA right, training the Contras to kill and rape the Sandinistas' with drug money) where he was taught rape tactics by the USA.

I guess it's up to a question of philosophy, tactics and strategy of a resistance movement. If, for example, you are against capitalism philosophically (and ethically) because it has proven to be a giant nightmare for the poor and oppressed around the globe and it's killing the Earth with it's ideology of money above of everything. If, also, you wanted to transcend capitalism (you know like a revolution) because of the aforementioned reasons then the you have to figure out what tactics you're going to use. If workers around the world are breaking windows and rioting against capitalism, or setting fires at factories and police stations, and those tactics seem to work to spread revolt and open rebellion with the current social order (that poisons us daily and impoverishes our everyday lives with sports teams dog bowls and plastic spider rings) then you have some tactics. Now you're left with how to use those tactics in a strategy (like a global chess game between anarchy and misery).

But, let's not get confused, anarchy isn't a monolith. It is made of people like you and me who work on projects that both mean something deep and beautiful to them and undermine capitalism, the state, religion, patriarchy, racism and other forms of domination. But you never hear about Free Radio Olympia, EGYHOP, Bike and Bike, the Olympia Free Herbal Clinic, the Raccoon Arts Collective, the Zine Library, Critical Mass, Food Not Bombs, Books to Prisoners, or any of the permaculture guerrilla gardening groups in town when you hear reporters on this site talk about anarchists. They mostly make us look like scary black clad monsters who come out periodically and disturb this totally awesome tranquility we got going on. There are approximately 2,000 anarchists in Olympia ya'll, get to know us when we're not trying to smash up the facade of some terrible company or stop frontin'.

I know I need to stop getting into conversations with reactionary internet personalities cause I really have to get to work soon, but seriously, my anarchism doesn't boil down to "ef sheet up". If you have to know, most of my anarchism is permaculture guerrilla gardening. I take over spaces that I don't own at 1am - 4:30am (like "a pack of tweakers" I guess) and look at my plans and I start gardening. I nerd out with anarchist friends about oyster mushrooms and bio-remediation. If there was ever a huge economic collapse or revolution I will teach all who want to know how to fix your soil without importing soil from far off places and I'd probably help you prepare a edible forest garden if you asked me too.

But I don't think civil servant strikers in Botswana or vandals in Tacoma are anti-communitarian cause they are "ef[ing] sheet up" today.

Alright seriously last comment before work. I don't think anarchy means what you think it means. Read some articles and books from this website and get back at me in a few months okay?:

gotta run, but believe me, I'm not some twisted, distorted "other". I'm a father of a three year old and I practice attachment parenting, I really like plants and nature and I read tons of classical novels and I love jazz fusion.

You know, I don't agree with the intimidation tactics, but it struck a familiar chord when this person typed "testosterone fueled jerk". Sometimes I have seen Overman get pretty macho in an offensive way. Maybe a little temper problem going on there. Maybe that is part of the problem. But I still believe in a free press. It's a fine line.

You're wasting your time here, Swordfern. None of these people have the attention span for your comment. In fact, given that some of your sentences are 39 words long, they don't have the attention span for some of your thoughts. They WANT to hate you because they want something to hate, something they can hate without consequences. If they hated the real agents of their misery, their little minds would unravel. But I applaud your effort.

THAT was threatening? Gosh golly. GunnarWade and Old_Reliable are PROJECTING big time. A "death threat"? What in the world made you think that? What EXACT WORDS sounded like a death threat to you, Old_Reliable?
