Good Bye, Dick Pust

I'll refrain from the politics of KGY's business decisions, but will just say that this is only the beginning of changes in "local" media.

Meanwhile, although Dick was a "good old Olympian", as a guest on his show on two different occasions, representing BBBS, I had to laugh while leaving the building after his question "how do you handle perverts?"

Uh, Dick - we don't have any  We screen before allowing contact with kids.

On the other side, keep your ears open for the name "David Black".  This Canadian buys presses and buildings.

Dick deserved better. And we will give him our love and devotion!

The chatter on a radio-centric blog is interesting:

After fifty-one - that"s right - fifty-one years - KGY & Dick Pust part company

According to this, David Black, Canadian press tycoon who has bought San Diego's daily, "... What about editorial? Well, I recall running a story on this blog in August 2007 about Black's company having fired the editor of his Victoria News after an advertiser who ran a car dealership complained about the paper reporting on how it was possible to buy cheaper cars in the United States. The company swiftly claimed that the editor's departure was only linked "in part" to that incident. But it also led to the resignations of the senior reporter who wrote the story and the company's regional editor."

If Black gets involved with the Zero, is "zero" what we will end up with?

McClatchy won't sell The Olympian. It's already printed in Tacoma. It is my belief, according to a conversation that I had a couple of days ago, that the stage is being set for one newspaper - The News Tribune and that the building and equipment will be sold. Black is a logical buyer, according to my source, as he purchases presses and buildings to do commercial printing.

I would stress that this is far from official, but my source worked at the TNT from about 1968 until McClatchey purchased, then returned there briefly a few years back. He has since left, but is still in media
