Another "Other" to condemn

A Tennessee Anti-Shariah Bill could punish Muslims with sentences of up to 15 years for things like washing their feet before praying.

This is another in an increasingly long list of actions to identify and condemn "others" in our society, suggesting that if the "others" would just go away, everything would be better. This tactic, of course, is merely intended to distract the public from the wholesale assault on the middle class that's occurring in Red States across the country.

In Tennessee, it's Muslims. In Arizona, it's immigrants. In Wisconsin, it's union members. And these are merely the tip of the iceberg.

Where will it end? Will we have an American Crystallnacht?

Feet washing is a Christian tradition also.

Someone screwed up big time on that one.

Pretty ironic in a bible belt state like TN. If more Christians were more Christian, they'd know that, wouldn't they?

Kinda reminds me of the story of the pastor that moved down south to take over a perish, and he asked one of the parishoners "What bible do you read?"

The parishoner replied..."King James...just like Jesus did!".

And that reminds me of an incident a friend told me about when she was at the capitol to testify on a piece of legislation during the first legislative session following the "republican takeover" in '94. She overheard a couple of freshman reps discussing the merits of a proposed bill to make English the official language of WA state. "After all," one of them said, "it's the language of the Bible."

ignorance + religion = something ugly most of the time.
