Did Republicans overpromise on health bill repeal?
The Senate Wednesday declined to repeal the health-care law. And, notably, not a single Democrat voted to annul President Obama's signature reform, demonstrating the sort of solidarity that may make it difficult to undermine the law in ways short of outright repeal, such as defunding its implementation.
Republican politicians and activists have benefited from anti-health-care-reform sentiment among Tea Party types for months. But have they overpromised? House Speaker John Boehner didn't exactly guarantee outright repeal in November, but he and others in his party came pretty close.
