Many Republicans now say: Palin not fit to be GOP leader

Finally they're seeing what Democrats have been saying all along.

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Black Republicans tell John Avlon that Sarah Palin's tweet in defense of Dr. Laura was ridiculous and indefensible—and that she may be "no longer fit to lead."

Sarah Palin’s post-VP nominee career has so far benefitted from bomb-throwing. The process follows a tight script—a crude, semi-calculated comment is shot into the middle of a political debate via Facebook or Twitter. It gains national attention. Liberals are outraged. Conservatives rush to her defense. Sarah Palin dominates a news cycle and becomes more beloved by her base.

But by unnecessarily rushing to the defense of Dr. Laura Schlessinger—after she dropped the N-bomb 11 times and told the caller “don’t marry outside of your race”—Sarah Palin might finally have gone too far and picked a fight she cannot win.

This is the sound of Sarah Palin jumping the shark in two tweets:

• Dr.Laura:don't retreat ... reload! (Steps aside bc her 1st Amend.rights ceased 2exist thx 2activists trying 2silence"isn't American,not fair")
• Dr.Laura=even more powerful & effective w/out the shackles, so watch out Constitutional obstructionists. And b thankful 4 her voice,America!

The few black conservative candidates, columnists, and media figures—who represent the GOP’s only hope for reclaiming the legacy of Lincoln and, with it, long-term demographic relevance—are not amused. They’re now saying what many in the GOP increasingly believe: Sarah Palin is not fit to be a serious leader of the Republican Party. ...

Aunt Jemima, what took you so long?

It all depends on whose ox is being gored, doesn't it?

The fact that Dr. Laura somehow BELIEVES that what she said is socially OK is what boggles the mind. Yes, of course she has the first amendment right TO SAY IT, we all have the first amendment right to make bigoted asses of ourselves.

The thing that both Palin and Laura (I question the Dr. part) fail to realize is that their sponsors and also the radio stations who play her self righteous line of crap also have that same first amendment right TO NOT SPONSER HER!

And of course Palin would throw in her two cents worth, showing the not so veiled bigotry they both possess.

What they both seem to forget is that it is not the evil GOVERNMENT censoring her, but their glorious FREE MARKET Capitalists who want to, for public relation reasons, divorce themselves from her unveiled rants, by no longer sponsoring her, which is TOTALLY legal!

Ain't it a bitch girls when the FREE MARKET god kicks you in the ass!!

The funny part? Dr. Laur's own words:

"I’m stunned - couldn’t the Republican Party find one competent female with adult children to run for Vice President with McCain? I realize his advisors probably didn’t want a “mature” woman, as the Democrats keep harping on his age. But really, what kind of role model is a woman whose fifth child was recently born with a serious issue, Down Syndrome, and then goes back to the job of Governor within days of the birth?

"I am haunted by the family pictures of the Palins during political photo-ops, showing the eldest daughter, now pregnant with her own child, cuddling the family’s newborn.

One of the few things on which I could agree w/ Laura. But, it does seem that she's stating the obvious in this case.
Palin is a train wreck, and so many people can't seem to help stopping to look. Now the train wreck is on your side, Laura, so what does that tell you?

Dr. Laura needed press. She got what she needed, but not what she wanted

As my husband says, Dr. Laura needs to get mugged (hypothetically).
