George Le Masurier, publisher of The Olympian wrote an interesting OP Ed. At the end he asked "I’m interested in what you think we should do — continue to allow anonymity in the comments section, or require everyone conversing in print or online to identify themselves?"

Democracy requires a certain amount of civil courage.
For tactical reasons I also support the positive ID movement because the cowards are IV, slobada, Sondrak et. al. They will STFU the moment they are called on to be responsible in meaningful ways for their insanity masquerading as ideology.
Sure, there are risks in owning up to one's written opinions but I believe we will never get the democracy we deserve until we remember anything worth saying has to be said publicly.
Fuck Bullies, morans and idiots. We speak the truth and because of that we have to take ownership of our truth

As some of you might see, I invited "Too_Opinionated" to join us as long as "Achmed" is dead.
Too_Too can be reasonable and intelligent for our discussion threads, although possibly offended when we have fun with IV and Sondra's foibles.
Majority rules, so if TooToo chooses to join us, getting offended at Sidrat's great IV jokes will not serve TooToo's interests.
Larry, I enjoy intelligent convos with anyone..IV included..
If Too wishes to join us..I welcome that..and would look forward to an intelligent exchange of ideas..

I welcome anybody to the dialogue, I remember Too Too, and enjoyed some of the discourse we exchanged, admittedly disagreeing on almost everything. Hope he loses the Cowboy Ronny avatar though! LOL
ATG, I do not know if I have your courage to "out" myself, and Mr Sparkle might have serious issues, as he knows my rarely to be humble opinionated stance on issues, though he agrees completely, might cause us problems in our professional lives.
And Larry..I get offended at most of IV's posts...

I suck it up and stand for what I believe..
My opinion: if the Olympian demands real ID in order to register, promising to keep the info private, but continues to allow us to use pseudonyms online, that's OK with me. I will not use/publish my real ID, however-- been there, done that years ago when I wrote a LTE and was stalked for my efforts. (At the time, under the existing laws, there wasn't anything that could be done about it.)

This is a little off track, but I want to share it.
Today I dropped Mrs. at the store and ran over to Costco to gas up. I had to wait in line, as usual.
I pulled up to the front pump and glanced in my rear mirror to see if I had pulled up far enough, just in time to see a pick up truck almost hit my rear end. As I looked in the rear view mirror, the driver was outside of his truck glaring at me.
I stepped out of my vehicle and he approached me yelling "do you have a problem?" I said "yeah, you damned near hit me", which he quickly denied and said I was driving "too slow" (remember, we are at the gas pumps at Costco....how fast SHOULD you drive????)
The man in the next isle sided with me, verbally, and the truck driver is now outnumbered and embarrassed. I reminded him that walking up on someone in a confrontational manner might not serve him well in the future. He quit fueling and left.
Knowing that there are people running around that carry guns waiting to feel "scared", this fool was lucky he approached me, as opposed to someone else. The worst he would have gotten from me was a broken nose (I'm fond of the palm of the hand on the tip of the nose as a quick protection device. Between the nose bleed and blurry eyes, you usually disable the aggressor pretty good)
It was a reminder that some of the behaviors that are displayed on public blogs spills over into real life, now and then.
