Playing with the complaint button

Get ready for a shutdown today. Cedar's last two comments were 'hidden" because someone is playing with the "report abuse" link.

UPDATE - now it's multiple comments.

Nobody loves free speech more then a conservative who tries to hinder it.
They are pushing to have the site shut down today, which probably for them is easier then to have civil.

Yeah, I tried to leave to contact the O, but could only leave a message, which I didn't. I'll probably call back, since we know the players.

cedar, You called me a conservative. A LIE! Apology needed!<

Sorry.

Good grief! An apology is demanded, so cedar offers "Sorry", and gets reported for it!

You're right, sparkle. Rather than let anybody have an opportunity to post opinions, the right wingers want to shut down the commentaries.

Sand can always be thrown back at them.

We might have to unite, I am assuming that most / all of us only have one username.

On second thought, who wants to stoop to their level?

I hope the Olympian is able to narrow down the perpetrator (s) and publishes and exposes them and forces 1000 apologies.

This is the candidate for exposure but I doubt we'll ever get even one apology from her, let alone 1000.

We, at The Olympian, believe in an attempt to hide comments, and have the Letters to the Editor comment thread shut down, there are multiple abuse reports being sent by multiple users.

The moderators at The Olympian aren't in the business of judging the conversation, or censoring based on our own political leanings, we are in the business of providing a place for both sides of the political arena to discuss your views - respectfully.

Please note: We will be shutting down the comment thread if the multiple abuse reporting continues. There is absolutely no good reason for the behavior on this thread, and we don't have personnel or time to monitor this thread when this kind of behavior persists.

Tammy McGee

I don't understand the wording of Tammy's first sentence/paragraph... does it make sense to any of you here?

I'd say it was a typo.

I am sure Tammy is pissed, and who would blame her, when I'm pissed my typing and sentence structure sucks!

I did leave a message at the O, for Tammy, she responded with in minutes. I named names (user and otherwise), including my own, she pulled some posts (including some of mine) and hopefully it stays up for the rest of the day.

"why do I see people like Chris Matthews and other liberals discussing it as one option in incremental health care reform" - because the liberals caved in to Conservatives instead of using the majority that they had. Liberals seek compromise, Conservatives say "tough noogies".

The site can't really be this porous to the report-abuse "hack"? Hello update.

"SafeSax wrote on 01/26/2010 03:40:37 PM: Global Warming is based on science. It is a theory, thus will be fallible, but there is nothing to support the statement that it is "an outright lie" Who makes more money? Al Gore or Exxon?"

One of the major problems is that very few non-scientists understand what a Theory is. Most lay people think that Theory means idea or opinion. That is not the case. That is called an Hypothesis. When independent research, performed by legitimate scientists and peer reviewed, confirms the idea stated in the Hypothesis, the Hypothesis becomes a Theory. That is not to say that advances in science will not cause a Theory to be modified. That is the beauty of Science. It always incorporates new data, new research, new ways of measuring. The pseudo-science that the deniers use is not based on sound research, sound principles, or legitimate research. It is based on what these people are paid by the carbon based energy corporations to say.

There will never be tort reform. You ask why, Simple go to Obama list of contributers. The trial lawyer association of america is his biggest contributors"

And the insurance companies contribute to who? Lieberman, Nelson, etc

sloboda ... 01/26/2010 03:31:38 PM:

According to http://www.campaignmoney.com/Trial_Lawyer.asp, "1999 - present", the "Average Contribution Dollar Amount to Republicans" is $616, and the "Average Contribution Dollar Amount to Democrats" is $810-- not a big difference, sloboda, and certainly not indicative of lots of Association money going solely to Obama, let alone his biggest contributor.

"would it be safe to say, if not exactly correct that people who angrily dispute global warming come from the same linneage who violently thought the Earth was the center of the Universe, the Earth flat, evolution a hoax, and slavery was good for the economy???" - olyman

Once again, people like you have this precisely 180 degrees out of whack. Those things were the CONSENSUS
