Larry, are those your cats? Is the one wrapped in the comforter the same as the striped one in the other picture or is this cat #3?

We have two - Roxie and Tonka. Roxie likes to cover up

Oh goodness, we have four! Petco loves to see us coming!

Does Roxie do it herself, or does she demand that one of her subjects do it for her? :-)

To all you cat lovers: You do realize your pets would torture you to death if the were capable.

I like all animals, even cats. Heck, one of my favorite critters was my big, and by that I mean 17lb., black cat named Kitty. I tried a bunch of different names, Elvis, Panther, Puss Puss but Kitty stuck.
He and I and my girlfriend all became a family when we were living in Seattle at the height of the Grunge thing. 20 something and in love and free and defiant a big black cat fit right in, although I don't think Kitty was a big fan of Mudhoney. He was more of a Sound Garden fan.
Kitty died about 20 years ago but writing about makes me sad 'cose I really loved that fur bag. And Mary. I still miss both of them even though he was not a dog and she never became my wife.

Anon, reading that makes me sad too. I had a cat, from the time she was a little puff ball on the palm of my hand, until the day she died, 19 years later, Pasha, a pastel, long haired calico.
I have spent more of my adult life with her then without. She died 11 years ago, I still miss her, though she visits me in my dreams sometimes.

Thanks sparkle. You touched on a big part of my feelings about Kitty. My mourning of his passing is as much about my life that ended with his mortality. His passing was the final chapter of my 20 Something life. Good times and good animal friends become bitter sweet with time.

Anyway, you have quite the sexy herd of cats there. Herd of cats. See, I made a joke there.

I used to have a brother/sister pair of black cats named Jack and Jill-- they raced up and down the stairs after each other and occasionally would tumble down, so it seemed logical to name them Jack and Jill. :-)

Roxie is 15 lbs, Tonka is only 12 lbs - 2 of which are fur.

Roxie works the blankets

I often wonder what goes through their minds when they decide to do something like covering themselves with blankets. LOL At one point when I had Jack and Jill, I lived in a house that had a view window that went nearly all the way to the floor, with a baseboard heater level with the bottom of the window. Jill's favorite lounging spot in cold weather was on the window sill/heater "perch"... when she got off, the part of her fur that had been on the heater was almost too hot to touch, and by the end of the winter her black fur had a brown stripe where the color had been bleached out. LOLOL

One of mine is a beautiful all brown cat, very unusual, think he's a Chocolate Bermese, complete w/ the crossed eyes. He was a rescue kitty, as all of ours are, he was found in a field when he was way to young to be on his own, the shelter nursed him back to life, and we had the honor of adopting him, great cat, really strong and beautiful, but, poor guy, he has some issues!

Sparkle, is that a Trivial Pursuit card on the floor in the picture of your cats?

sparkle said...

Gosh, it could be, our 13 year old LOVES that game! One of the reasons we love Apollo's for dinner, they have the cards on the table. Though I actually think it is one of those refrigerator magnets that ALWAYS fell off the fridge, (which is just to the right and out of the picture.
The picture was taken about a half a year ago, the two "kittens" are much bigger now. Oh and the magnet...history!

Some of you may know "Janet" from Olyblog fame. We used to have "Fred" and "Fuzz". We adopted Fred, but Fuzz adopted us. Two kittens (less than one year) was more than Mrs could handle so Janet took Fuzz off our hands.

Fred, one day, decided to stare down Momma Raccoon at 12 inches nose to nose, while she had 3 younguns behind her. I thought he was a goner, but they went their separate ways. Unfortunately, that night, Fred wouldn't come in and was never seen again. No carcus, nothing. We think the major eagle might have grabbed him early in the morning hours, as I've seen him go after ducks at that time.
