Let's examine Justin's question/statement

JustinKover wrote on 01/09/2010 01:10:39 PM:
I am disappointed that the comments were shut down yesterday. With a letter about how Sarah Palin was right about Obama, I figured the Larry's of this forum would froth. Alas, I didn't get to see.

From yesterday's LTE - In September 2008, Sarah Palin made her nomination speech. Her book, “Going Rogue,” contains the speech, and I was particularly interested in the following comments about her Democratic opponent: “What does he actually see to accomplish, after he’s done turning back the waters and healing the planet?

Tell us Justin....how was Sarah Palin "right" about Obama?

As is true with the Right Wing Extremists (which after your attack on the Tumwater Council people, I've begun to see your direction), you've been taken for a ride on the "turning back the waters and healing the planet" quote.

You see, Barack Obama never said he would do that and the best part about this misquote/misinformation game is that Amy Holmes, the CNN water carrier for the Republicans got caught with her foot in her mouth on this one on Bill Mahr's show about a year ago.

I'll let Business Week's Dave Kiley do the talking.....

An Open Letter To CNN's Amy Holmes
Posted by: David Kiley on November 01

I was watching the 10/31 installment of “Real Time With Bill Maher” during which the discussion naturally centered on the election.

Guest and conservative commentator Amy Holmes, who is a contributor to CNN, was insinuating that Barack Obama has a Messiah complex. She cited a speech he gave that she calls his “Moses Speech,” in which she said Obama talked about the idea that his Presidency will make “the seas will recede and the planet will heal.”

Maher and fellow-guest Cornell West doubted her. She said “Google it.”

So, I did.

Here is the text of Obama’s speech on June 3 that Holmes refers to:

"The journey will be difficult. The road will be long. I face this challenge with profound humility, and knowledge of my own limitations. But I also face it with limitless faith in the capacity of the American people. Because if we are willing to work for it, and fight for it, and believe in it, then I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal; this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on earth. This was the moment—this was the time—when we came together to remake this great nation so that it may always reflect our very best selves and our highest ideals. Thank you, God bless you, and may God bless the United States of America."

Ms. Holmes, intellectual honesty has been in short supply this election season. I thought you were better than this. Is there any doubt that Obama was referring to taking charge of environmental policy from the global warming denying Bush Administration, and not having a messiah moment? This is barely Hannity-worthy. Give me a break." (end of Kiley's story)

So...as we see....Palin did nothing other than normal....take a year old misquote and run with it one more time....this time in that pitiful excuse called a biography.

Frothing, Justin? I would think that any patriotic red-blooded American would be "frothing" at the way a former Vice Presidential nominee lies, over and over, continuing to divide the country for her personal political purposes. It was bad enough that Holmes, a supposed journalist was pushing this manure, but a year AFTER it is proven wrong, Palin digs it up again for a book?

The woman is either incredibly sick or the worst example in the world of what we need for leadership.

There it is, Justin......Larry's froth. Now lets see if you have the balls to step up to the plate and admit that Palin is nothing short of a National Enquirer quality gossip or will you make one more excuse for that sad piece of humanity.

Hello Larry. I notice I am a topic of your blog, so I thought I'd return the favor and answer your question.

When I said "a letter about how Sarah Palin was right about Obama," I was referring to the letter and the subject matter.

I am confident that such an opinion would get yourself and those of like mind "frothing," as in exercised at the notion she would make such a claim. Unfortunately, I missed it. I was working.

I encourage you to take your opinions to larger and larger forums. Good luck with your blog, Larry. -Justin Kover
