The two don't go together at all. Followers of Jesus are NOT politically conservative - as Jesus spoke against most of the points political conservatives hold to the highest standards. Conservatives actively work against many of the teachings Jesus held up as ideals of His followers.
As an example, look at the postings of IV/BM. Except for his repeated claims to be one, you will find almost nothing of Christ's teachings in his writings.
