Mark Wood on Tiger Woods....

NOTE: Mark Wood submitted these items and rather than bury them in comments (see "Assholes like you") I'm going to give Mark his own thread and see if we can open discussion on the subject, as I think it merits discussion. It's newsworthy, current and reflective of behaviors we've seen in other professions. Thanks Mark, for your submissions

OK...I'll comment first.

Tiger committed adultry. Frankly, many years ago, so did I. Tiger was wrong, and so was I.

Back to Tiger. A whole bunch of women are now coming out of the woodwork saying "He did me, too".

Personally, I wonder how many are telling the truth and how many are seeking their 15 minutes of fame and a shot at a reality show. Regardless of if Tiger screwed 15 women once or one woman 15 times, infidelity is infidelity.

Now comes the interesting part....Tiger "resigned"!!! While I'm sure he has investments, he makes his money by holding a golf club in his hands, but he stepped away from the sport to get the focus back on the sport and hopefully, to work on his private life. Golf may still suffer. Although he got caught putting the wrong greens, people do love to watch that man play the game.

Look at politics and consider those caught at infidelities:

Bill Clinton
David Vitter
Newt Gingrich
and others....

Nobody quit to stop the distractions from their career and the careers of like professionals (could you have imagined the outcome of Clinton stepping down, Gore takes the reigns, gains popularity and George W. Bush remains a governor/piss poor businessman in history?????)

Then you have the likes of John Ensign who called on Clinton to resign, saying, "He has no credibility left." Ensign has yet to resign.

I've left John Edwards out of this list as he is in private life, although guilty of infidelity.

Is there a place for Larry Craig on this list? Well, he hasn't fessed up to infidelity, but definely needs to find a new venue for his tapdancing act.

Wrapup? Woods is wrong. Larry was wrong. Infidelity is wrong.

Woods respects the game enough to do the right thing.

Good topic, Woody! See, I'm not such a bad moderator, as long as we avoid bullshit.

What irritates the hell out of me is that these so-called "famous" people obviously feel that "they'll never catch me, but if they do, I can talk my way out of it". Damned fools-- in this day and age there are too many people watching and very willing to out the culprits (and as you note, Larry, that definitely includes the other halves of the adulterous couples who are seeking as many minutes of fame as they can get).

Seems to me a good portion of this country has committed adultry at one time or another. Judging by the divorce rate of 50%, I'm will to bet about 25% of people have done it.

I do have to admit though the number of women is a bit staggering.

For me, I don't really care. He screwed up. He should take a break to get his family in order, if that is at all possible, then get on with life.

By the way, I am in know way condoning adultry, just that it happens with very many people, including many of the folks criticizing him.
